If you plan to give birth at home, the midwife can advise you on the proper arrangements.

If you expect to give birth at a hospital or other birthing center, during the final weeks of pregnancy you should become familiar with the facility and plan your mode of transportation. It is wise to prepare for your stay by packing well in advance. Following are suggestions about what to take.

Several nightgowns or casual outfits that open in front (if you have opted to breastfeed), and a bathrobe and slippers. Remember to choose loose-fitting clothes, because your crotch and abdomen might be tender.
Several nursing bras and breast pads.
Cotton underpants and stick-on sanitary pads, including superabsorbent ones for the first few days.
A kit with toiletries and other items for your personal comfort.
Any medications you take on a regular basis for conditions other than your pregnancy (consult your health care professional first).

Diapers (for coming home)
Undershirt
Nightgown
Head covering
Cotton blanket
